Just remember, Iranians are people too. The seemingly mad ramblings of Ahmadinejad are not opinions held by the majority of Iranians. Just follow this link to see the pictures demonstrating life in Iran. You’ll see it’s not much different from our own. Put yourself in their shoes.

Also, don’t forget that Iranians were in the streets after 9-11 holding candle light vigils in solidarity with the US and its losses.
Not to mention, Iranian leaders wanted to assist the US government in destroying the Taliban as well, given the atrocities the Taliban conducted against people of the same ethnic background as Iranians, the Shia, in Afghanistan, however Bush & company refused their offers. [almost impossible to find this info now, although I did locate a post 9-11 breakdown of “players” in the middle east put together by NBC that September, yet I can’t find it now! grr!)
Iranians, are not Arabs, not that that should matter, but rather Persians and speak Farse (sp?) as their dominant language.

Iranians are wonderful people, I agree with you. The things Tehran has said about Israel are on record. I may seem like it’s Bush and Cheney egging on a war, but if the Mos sad determines that they feel Iran is on the verge, that will be it, nobody could stop them. Hopefully cooler heads will come forth. Iran has publicly talked about wiping Israel off the map, and they may pay a price for that, it’s history, nobody in Israel is talking about wiping Iran off the map. They may soon cease to have a Nuclear program.

dummid: Please do some research on the comments made by Ahmadinejad to “wipe Israel off the map”. Numerous translators have said that his words were mistranslated and were taken out of context. He actually said “The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.”. He wasn’t calling for the death of Israeli’s or another genocide as those who support a war with Iran would have you believe. He simply believes that the Israeli regime should no longer be in power.
In fact, the New York Times initially used the word “map” and issued a retraction of the translation as did the BBC but they refused to issue one. Now the right has used this quote over and over again, knowing that it is inaccurate, in order to drum up support for an attack on Iran.
Funny how anyone who supports this ALWAYS brings up this quote. It wasn’t until this supposed quote surfaced that people suddenly thought Iran must be kept from getting a nuclear weapon (which they deny even doing over and over and over again). Without this quote support for war with Iran would be vastly minimal.

My point is really I think it’s Israel’s call, what the CIA thinks (they were wrong about Iraq) isn’t the key. Israel will operate on what Mos sad thinks and Mos sad has a reputation of being better informed than us, and that the IDF, like it or not will either act or not. I don’t think Bush tells them what to do? The link explains my position on Iran before the tempers flared up worse.

The Iranian president has said that Palestinians should not have been made to suffer for the holocaust. Nothing “mad” about that. It is unfortunte that more of our politicians don’t have the balls to say the truth openly. Iran backed the “terrorist” anti-apartheid forces in South Africa at a time when the US had put Mandela on a terrorist list. The apartheid regime in South Africa has been erased from the pages of history. Israel is a racist apartheid state. Hopefully, it too will be similarly erased from the pages of history. And the world would be better off then too.
