Even as the Democrats ended the congressional session on the House floor, the republicans defiantly remained in an attempt to protest the fact that the Democrats ended the session without a vote on the offshore drilling bill.

Even though we are not getting the full story on offshore drilling the republicans showed an act of defiance trying to drive home the idea of how passionate they are about the bills passage.

Here’s my question: How much did the oil lobbyists give them to stage this childish event?

Update 7: Rep Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) just pretended to be a Democrat. He stood on the other side of the chamber and listed all of the GOP bills that the Dems killed.

He then said, “I am a Democrat, and here is my energy plan” and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to it. He paraded around the House floor with the sign while the crowd cheered.

Update 8: It’s over.

Right at the stroke of five Georgia Rep. Tom Price announced that House Republicans were ending their impromptu protest on the floor of the chamber, ending a five-plus hour rebellion with a round of “God Bless America.”

The assembled tourists, aides and members in the chamber gave Price and his compatriots a standing ovation. They left the chamber to shouts of “USA! USA! USA!”

Once again the Main stream media is leaving out a very crucial part of the supposed bee die-off mystery. What they aren’t saying is that organic bees, or bees that aren’t genetically modified; given anti-biotics; or sprayed with pesticides, aren’t dying off at all. Not one colony of organic bees has reported any instances of Collapsed Colony Disorder; CCD.

Full Article

The news has been full of stories on honeybee disappearances throughout the U.S. While no one cause for “Colony Collapse Disorder” has been identified, many ideas have been generated; and while no one has the answer yet, everyone can agree that this is an issue with far reaching implications for our species and others.

Reports from the Organic Consumers Association state that bee losses are affecting commercial, and not organic, beekeepers. Commercial beekeepers breed bees to be larger than they would grow in their natural habitats and larger bees create larger holes in beehives. Some theorize that, with these larger holes, mites may more readily enter and infest the hive, which the bees will then abandon. In Minnesota, researchers at the U of M Extension Service Bee Lab think that the massive bee disappearance may be caused by many factors coming to a head for these sensitive creatures. Overuse of pesticides was called out as a death knell to pollinators in Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” 40 years ago, and we now use twice as much pesticide on our agricultural land. Combine an abused immune system with more aggressive mites and lots of “electrosmog” messing with an internal sense of direction, and you have one sick honeybee!

Very interesting…guess we’ll see what they do.

In early July, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen visited Israel to discuss the Iranian nuclear program with his Israeli counterpart, Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi, and other Israeli officials.

During the talks, Adm. Mullen cautioned that the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in 1967 is the type of incident that should be ‘avoided in any future military actions’ in the Middle East, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The USS Liberty, a $40m state-of-the-art surveillance ship, was ‘inadvertently’ attacked by Israeli fighter jets and torpedo boats in international waters north of the northern Sinai Peninsula coast.

Although there are many conspiracy theories as to why Israel committed such a ‘mistake’ against its closest ally, former US seamen who served on Liberty claim authorities are guilty of a cover-up.

American Free Press quoted Adm. Mullen as saying that it is very ‘important’ at this time that ‘history not repeat itself’, referring to increasing speculation that Israel might stage another such scenario to push the US into a war with Iran.

Israel is reportedly lobbying the Bush administration to launch a joint attack on Iran before President George W. Bush leaves office in January 2009.

In an Aug. 2 interview with the USS Liberty radio show, former army intelligence officer and CIA analyst Ray McGovern claimed Israel is planning a scenario similar to that of the 67 Liberty incident.

“It is obviously something bigger. The name of the game is to ‘decapitate the Iranian nuclear program’ whether it is aimed at a weapon or not,” said McGovern.

The war threats and speculation come despite the UN nuclear watchdog declaring that Iran is enriching uranium to 3 percent, a rate consistent with electricity generation.

The most recent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report conceded that there is no link between the use of nuclear material and the ‘alleged studies’ of weaponization attributed to Iran.

Pakistan has accused the US of backing militancy within the country, saying this goes against the spirit of so-called war on terror.

Pakistani the News quoted official sources as saying on Tuesday that strong evidence of American acquiescence to terrorism inside Pakistan was outlined by President Pervez Musharraf, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen. Nadeem Taj in their separate meetings with US Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen and CIA Deputy Director Stephen R Kappes on July 12 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistani officials with direct knowledge of the meetings said the Americans were not interested in disrupting the Kabul-based fountainhead of terrorism in Baluchistan nor do they want to allocate the marvelous predator resource to neutralize the kingpin of suicide bombings against the Pakistani military establishment now hiding near the Pak-Afghan border.

The top US military commander were also asked why the CIA-run predator did not swing into action when they were provided the exact location of Baitullah Mehsud, the chief of militants and mastermind of almost every suicide operation against the Army and the ISI since June 2006.

Pakistani official have long been intrigued by the presence of highly encrypted communications gear with Mehsud. This communication gear enables him to collect real-time information on Pakistani troops’ movement from an unidentified foreign source without being intercepted by Pakistani intelligence, sources said.

Admiral Mullen and the CIA official were in Pakistan on an unannounced visit to show what the US media claimed was evidence of the ISI’s ties to the Taliban militants and the alleged involvement of Pakistani agents in the bombing of the Indian embassy in Kabul.

A former official with Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence Khalid Khawaja accused the US in an exclusive interview with the Press TV that the Americans had planted the bomb in the Indian Embassy in Kabul to widen the rift between Indians and Pakistanis.

Don’t fall for it.

Lower gas prices is such a lovely thing to imagine.  It’s not going to happen by drilling in the ocean.  This is just a scam to get the American people, by playing off their anger and woes due to high gas prices, to urge congress to lift the ban that Bush has lifted on offshore drilling.  The ONLY people this helps is the oil companies.

The scam is to convince us that as soon as the ban is lifted all of a sudden we’re going to see gas prices start plumeting down, down, down, maybe even faster than it went up.  What they DON’T tell you is that the companies that get the permits and land leases to drill in the ocean are the ones who own the oil. Not the US.  In other words, these internation gas and oil companies who we all know are only interested in making obscene amounts of money want us to give them the ability to make EVEN more money.  These companies aren’t obligated to sell the oil they extract to ONLY the US.  They are international companies who will sell i to the highest bidder.  The oil will also go to places like China, France, and Russia.

Besides all that, assuming they give all the oil to us (which they won’t) we won’t even really see a drop of oil come from those places for almost 10 YEARS!  Even then the change in gas prices will not be drastically changed.  We will only see a relief of pennies of the price per gallon.

This is just one last desperate attempt by Bush and his republican cronies who are in the oil lobbyists pocket to try and give the oil companies one last hoo-rah before Bush leaves office.

For example, the number of oil and gas permits on federal land has doubled over the last 5 years and there has been absolutely no impact on the price of oil .  In fact, as everyone is fully aware of the prices just keep going up and up.  This shows that finding new sources of oil doesn’t really mean squat.

What we need to do instead of focusing on how to get MORE oil is finding ways to get AWAY from oil.  We really don’t need it anymore.  The reality is that oil is a thing of the past and we have PLENTY of sources of alternative energy that we can utilize but companies that rely on profits from oil dont’ want it to happen.  People are also afraid of taking that big step that we need to take in order to make this happen.  It’s understandable though. It’s a new concept that will change our country and the world.

We can run cars off electricity, biodiesel (much different from ethanol), and natural gas.  We can get electricity from wind power, solar power, hydro power.  It may be a very long time before we start to not need oil at all but we need to start to make the change now.

If you think about it, we can’t even get oil out of these places that we are being deceived into believing is the ONLY solution to high gas prices for about 10 years.  By then the little baby steps we’ve been taking towards alternative energies bay be huge steps and oil may start becoming obsolete by then.  We will have felt pretty dumb for letting these companies tear up the land and destroy the ecosystems of the areas they will own permits to.

Here’s some pictures to remind you what’s at stake:

The spots they want to open up to offshore drilling are the same spots where the coral reefs that are already in jeaopardy from climate change and pollution.  Not only does the oil damage the very fragile ecosystem of these areas but even the detergent that is used to clean up the spill is also toxic to the animals and wildlife in the area.
